Are you sitting down? We have some news that might make your knees weak.

Earbits is excited to announce Groovies, a new Earbits currency that you earn whenever you take actions that support our bands.

Share a track with friends, earn 100 Groovies. Join a fan page or mailing list, earn 50 Groovies.

Check out the new Earbits!

Okay, but what do I do with Groovies? We’re glad you asked.

Along with Groovies, we’re launching a ton of improvements to the site and a bunch of new on-demand listening features.

Your saved favorites will now be front and center on your own personalized homepage. You can play your favorites, or play specific tracks from our Editor’s Picks. You can now play specific tracks from any artists’ Albums or Discographies tab. In the coming weeks, we’ll be adding more ways to browse, save, organize and play tracks on Earbits. You can also create custom channels now, blending multiple genre-based channels into a single channel that can be saved within your account.

Playing tracks on-demand uses up some Groovies.

Groovies are a simple way of giving value back to bands for accessing their content totally free, without commercials. Think of them like carbon offsets. You listened to a bunch of free music, and in exchange, you gave your favorite bands a little love and support. And all is well in the world.

We’re going to try to make the Groovies system simple, but the potential is limitless. Artists are going to be able to see who promotes them the most, and offer them rewards. We might have prizes and exclusive features for top Groovies earners. It’s not about playing a game on Earbits, it’s about tracking the things our audience does for the bands on Earbits, and giving them real rewards for their support. We think it’s pretty awesome.

What do you think? Will you be earning Groovies to unlock totally commercial-free music on-demand? Will you try to be your favorite artist’s top supporter?

Don’t forget, radio listening will continue to be the same on Earbits, and doesn’t require Groovies. Only on-demand listening requires Groovies. We hope Groovies and the new on-demand features are as exciting to you as they are to us and our bands. If you have any questions about Groovies, email us at, yep, you guessed it: groovies@earbits.com

We can’t wait to hear what you think.

Thanks!
The Earbits Team
