Watch Local Natives performing their new song “Heavy Feet” on KCRW above.

Now that it’s already 2013, it’s been about four years since Gorilla Manor, Local Natives’ first album, was released.  That album propelled the Silverlake/L.A.-based indie rock group to blog-era superstardom: beloved by social-media obsessed hipsters and Top 40 radio listeners alike (the latter thanks to the great single “Airplanes”).

The band’s sophomore album, Hummingbird, is scheduled to be released on January 28th via Infectious Records in the UK and on January 29th via Frenchkiss Records in the US.  Since the release of Gorilla Manor, the band has gone through a slight change.  Notably, bassist Andy Hamm is no longer a part of the group.  Still, Local Natives have maintained their airy, folksy, intricately composed sound.  Hummingbird was produced by Aaron Dessner, a member of The National.

The latest single from the album, “Heavy Feet,” was recently released by the band.  The website for Frenchkiss Records also notes that today is drummer Matt Frazier’s birthday, so some positive fan reaction’d likely be a nice gift to him.  Check out the song via Soundcloud below.
