Local concert promotion company Goldenvoice is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year.  The company, which promotes concerts throughout California as well as in Hawaii, Nevada, and Alaska, is a subsidiary of AEG Live, one of the world’s largest concert/show promoters.  Goldenvoice is most prominently known as the organization behind the annual Coachella festival in Southern California.

On December 16th, 17th and 18th, Goldenvoice is teaming up with local rock station KROQ to throw three nights of 30th anniversary shows.  The event, dubbed GV30, will feature some of LA’s best (and most historic) punk bands.

On night one, Social Distortion, X, and Adolescents will headline.  Both Social Distortion and X are punk bands that tend towards the country-ish, rockabilly side of things, so it makes sense that they’ll be performing on the same night.  Adolescents are a punk supergroup that hail from Social Distortion’s hometown of Fullerton, CA, and also feature some of Social D’s members.  Also makes sense.

Night two will feature headlining sets from Bad Religion, Youth Brigade and T.S.O.L.  On night three, Descendents, The Vandals, and The Dickies are set to be the headliners.  All nine headlining acts are influential punk bands that have been making music and performing on and off for the past thirty or so years.  Also performing at GV30 are Ill Repute, The Grim, Love Canal, and A Pretty Mess.  It makes sense that Goldenvoice would choose bands that rose to prominence in such a strong, Southern Californian punk scene around the same time the company was formed.

GV30 will take place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, CA.  3-day tickets and single-day passes are available via Ticketmaster here.
