The first time I heard that hardcore group The Bronx was reforming into a traditional mariachi band and calling itself Mariachi El Bronx, I thought it was a joke.  Turns out it wasn’t, but the group still has a sense of humor.  That comedic sensibility is demonstrated by their latest video, for Mariachi El Bronx II’s “48 Roses.”

The song features a chorus about being “blinded by love,” which is just what happens to the protagonist of the video.  For about three minutes he successfully balances the several women that he has stashed throughout his house in unlikely places, as they all pine for his affection.  When they find out about each other, though, all hell breaks loose.  And the guy… (SPOILER ALERT), turns into a piñata?

In a somewhat unorthodox move, the video was released exclusively through Funny or Die.  It was directed by that company’s Josh Martin and Ryan McNeely, and features a cameo from Conan O’Brien (although it’s likely just a previously-aired clip from the time the band appeared on his show earlier this year).  The video is funny, but the song is actually good.
