Here are some new albums that are coming out this Tuesday. Kick off your new year with some new music… and start planning out those “Best of 2012” end-of-the-year lists.
Charlie Haden and Hank Jones— Come Sunday
Renowned jazz bassist Charlie Haden and the late pianist Hank Jones recorded this album in 2010, just a few months prior to Jones’s death at age 91. The album features quiet takes on American gospel tunes and spiritual folk songs, such as “Down By The Riverside” and “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear.”
The Little Willies— For The Good Times
Norah Jones and her old-school country lovin’ friends twang out on their second disc, the first official release from the group in six years. The album features covers of classics such as the Cliff Friend/Irving Mills-penned “Lovesick Blues” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” as well as several other recognizable songs.
O’Brother— Garden Window
Garden Window is the debut full length album from the emotionally-charged indie band that associates with the newer crop of screamo-esque groups. O’Brother recently toured with longstanding emo veterans Thrice.
Rebelution— Peace Of Mind
Peace of Mind is the fourth full length studio album from Santa Barbara reggae rock group Rebelution. Click here to listen to “Bright Side of Life,” the title track off Rebelution’s 2009 album.
Red Wanting Blue— From The Vanishing Point
From The Vanishing Point is Red Wanting Blue’s ninth album. The Ohioan pop/rock band has been recording and performing since 1996. This is their first album in two years.
Yo Gotti— Live From The Kitchen
Despite the album’s title, Live From The Kitchen is a studio-recorded album. In fact, it’s the Southern rapper’s first official release. The album features guest appearances from rappers such as Rick Ross, Jadakiss, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj. It also features beats from prominent producers such as Lex Luger, Drumma Boy, and Big K.R.I.T. (who also lends a guest verse).
