Diplo might not be the hardest working man in electronic music, but he’s probably the most well-traveled.  It seems like the producer/DJ is literally everywhere— from the major music festivals to clubs throughout the world night after night (it’s no wonder that he brings niche world genres like moombahton to the forefront of electronic culture so often).

I tend to keep my mouth shut when it comes to electronic dance music, particularly dubstep.  My history with that particular subgenre is somewhat similar to many other people my age:  I heard a song, thought it was one of the coolest and most different sounding things I’ve ever heard, listened to a few other songs that gave me a similar response, listened to more songs until the build-up-then-bass-wobble formula wore thin, and then left the music for people who consider staying out all night and dancing to crazy light-shows a good time.  Not my scene.

For lawyers and doctors and those that have to deal with the potential repercussions brought forth by fans of the hard-partying, drug-using genre, Holy Ship! is probably not a good idea.  But for electronic music fans, this might be the coolest idea ever.

The lineup and info for the inaugural voyage of Holy Ship! were announced last week, and the festival is shaping up to be one of the most unique concepts in the live music and entertainment world.  Organized by Hard, Cloud 9 Adventures and The Bowery, Holy Ship! is an electronic music festival that will be held on a cruise ship during January of 2012.  From the 6th through the 9th of that month, the ship will voyage from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Port Lucaya, Bahamas before its final stop at a Private Island.
