With Earbits releasing their new and improved Playlists on Android, I decided it was time to put together a list of my favorite tracks on the platform. After all, I’ve got 100+ Favorites, and having them organized into a Playlist would really make it easy to rock on-demand. I figured I’d spend ten minutes slapping together the songs I have marked over the years, and voila! 240 minutes of perfectly-curated music that will be my go-to soundtrack for months to come. Right?

I love my job. Not many people can say that. Why do I love it, you ask? I do nothing but listen to Earbits all day, which provides me some serious time to peruse the up and coming music that we are constantly adding. From Metal to Jazz, and everything in between, I am ever-impressed by the catalog that our music department is building. Frankly, it’s getting ridiculous.

What does this mean to you?

Lots of new albums coming out this Tuesday.

Bahamas— Barchords

Feist’s touring guitarist writes and records under the moniker Bahamas.

Die Antwoord— Ten$ion

South African hip-hop crew returns with a disc full of horror/party songs.

Dr. Dog— Be The Void

It’s hard to believe Dr. Dog has released so much music, but Be The Void is their 7th album.  It should be good.

The Fray— Scars & Stories

My go-to braggy celeb story is that I once drove the drummer of The Fray from L.A.’s Galen Center to Burbank so that he could buy drumsticks.  This is his band’s new album.

It just wouldn’t seem like a fulfilling year for indie music if Of Montreal didn’t release an album or at least an EP/single, as they’ve done more or less consistently since their 1997 debut, Cherry Peel. Luckily for fans, the band is continuing that trend in 2012.  On February 7th of this year Polyvinyl Records will release the band’s eleventh full length studio album, entitled Paralytic Stalks.
