I never thought that Led Zeppelin would have an actual Facebook page (an OFFICIAL Facebook page), but, apparently, they do. And, for the last couple of days, they’ve been utilizing the site as a marketing tool for some sort of mysterious project.

On Saturday, a simple image of the word “FIVE” in Led Zeppelin-style writing/color scheme appeared on the band’s page.  On Sunday, they posted “Four” and today they posted the roman numeral three.  It appears as if the announcement is set to arrive on Wednesday, but its still entirely unclear as to what exactly the band is planning to announce.

While talking about the slew of reunions that happened this year that we were excited about (At The Drive In!, Refused, etc.), a friend asked me whether I thought Led Zeppelin would ever reunite.  I told him that they already did that recently.  In 2007, at London’s 02 Arena.  It was a big deal because Jason Bonham filled in for his late father John behind the drum kit.

The reunion rumors have already begun in regards to the Facebook updates, but most think they have to do with something else.  The most logical guess was provided by The Guardian and Rolling Stone, who think the group’s going to announce a DVD that documents the aforementioned 2007 reunion.  It’s been almost five years since that event.

If that’s the case, this is quite the PR scheme for such a simple announcement.  Thousands of fans have been liking and commenting on the countdown images, and many are sure to be disappointed if a Led Zeppelin tour isn’t announced on Wednesday.  But then, of course, thousands’ll know about the band’s new DVD.  The only thing left to do is to keep watching the group’s Facebook account.
